These were all inspired by Jenny Walton who you can find on instagram here. I am not sure what she does for a living but it sure looks fun! This it's a good example of how you can use someone's style to help define what your style is. In my first sketches, mine were very much like the inspiration drawings I was using but then things morphed into my own style. Sometimes you have to go that route to see where your route is.
It's really not so much that I am into fashion as I am into the posture of these girls and the "sassiness" they seem to have. I look at shapes of bodies and try to get the girls to strike those poses
Sometimes the fashion is fun too but I especially like when they turn out into "fun" clothes that you only would find on haute couture stages
To give you an idea of how obsessed I am with these - I bought a pad of paper - wonderful paper from a local art store here in Montreal (Omer des Serres).
There are 150 pages in this pad. I mean on 1 side - 300 blank pages total. Well I used all 150 pages, probably closer to 200 since I did draw on both sides on some of these. The paper is smooth, heavy weight enough to keep most of the bleed thru in tact and has worked really well for me.
I actually love the idea of working on single pages at a time instead of a journal. Somehow the single pages help me focus more and because I think of the single page as 1 finished piece I draw with more intention.
I could keep adding more pictures (I do have over 150) but I'll stop here and show you more once I recycle these girls into new art pieces
Stay tuned for what's coming next in the shop.
