I hope those of you in the U.S. had a great Thansgiving weekend! Ours here in Canada was quiet, mild and relaxing.
I spent more time looking at Carla Sonheim's new book which I also mentioned last week. She shows some artists work which she calls "Abstract Minutia" which I just love. It's funny because in the book she quotes one artist saying that he always thought artists had a picture in their mind before they start on a piece but in fact sometimes the piece just forms as they work.
I suppose that's why I love the pieces Carla Sondheim shows in her book under the section Abstract Minutia. Here's my version:
and even this ...
I remember my Dad also asking me when I was much younger and painting some pieces whether or not I saw it before I drew it. And I said, no, it just "forms" itself as I draw. And this is still true today. I suppose it's why I even talk about how you have to "feel the pen move" across the page and see where it takes you. I realize that is how I draw or paint. It's the combintation of the medium, paint, pencil and the paper and the color that brings me to what the piece will be.
Funny the things art makes you remember ...
Have a great creative day
Cathy
