Wow – really clear that I am on holidays huh – no more 5:00 AM posts – it’s not that I am not up at 5:00 – I usually am, it’s just that I am feeling less rushed and less routined than on regular working days!! Lol lol
I have of course been working on this and that. And I will be working on lots of new things for my shop this week.
I wanted to show you some pictures of some drawings I did and I’ll try and explain how this came about
So here’s a shot of a two page spread of some simple flowers. I started first with the background. Nice shades of orange and pink huh.
This was done in the same kind of journal that I mentioned in the this issue of Somerset's Art Journaling. You know, the one from lori over at elviestudio on etsy. It's a nice small 6 x 6 watercolor journal - love these! Anyways, got sidetracked there.
What I wanted to explain was that the flower was drawn by
looking for shapes in the background. I know sounds strange huh but if you look up close, real close to your textured background you can see shapes forming in there... Okay maybe I'm crazy, but really I can.
here ... look close - look where the arrow is pointing - can you see the center of the flower and then the petals extending from there?
These images are so clear to me when I look at the backgrounds. And the mixture of orange and yellow created the depth that allowed me to see the different shapes and sizes of petals and centers
Look below. here are the flowers I created by just looking for the hidden images in the background. This is a really relaxing exercise for me - I get completely in the zone when doing this.
yep, the flowers on each of these pages were hidden in the background and I just needed to draw lines around them to make them come out.
Try this .. it's really fun and you can get some beautiful shapes out of it.!
